Stanbic IBTC Children’s Day Fun Fair

Stanbic IBTC, one of Nigeria’s foremost financial institutions, has reiterated the need to celebrate children by giving them a platform to express themselves as part of activities marking this year’s Children’s Day in Nigeria. The Stanbic IBTC Children’s Carnival held at DreamWorld Africana, Lekki, Lagos underscores the significance attached to Children’s Day celebration and indeed children by Stanbic IBTC.

The event which was sponsored by Stanbic IBTC Bank also provided opportunity for the bank to present some its products and services as well as provided parents with tips on the importance of financial management in the development of children.


The Children’s Day Fun Fair held on May 26 and 27, 2013 at DreamWorld Africana Lekki, Lagos attracted over 4,000 children and adults with over 2000 Mobile Money 100 Children Accounts Activation recorded in 2 Days. Over 1000 children took part in the Stanbic IBTC Bank Face Painting Competition.

 The 2-day event was packed with a lot of fun and games to excite the children. At discounted gate fee, the children were able to ride the carousel, jump in the bounce castles, have their faces painted and their photographs taken and printed, as well as play other games for free. The children were also treated to exciting dance competition and amazing comedy sessions anchored by the Masters of Ceremony on the day, MC Bonus and MC CY.

While the 2-day event was aimed at ensuring that families had fun, the management of Stanbic IBTC ensured that parents were aware of some of the bank’s products that are beneficial to both children and their parents. The Children’s Day event served as an avenue for the Stanbic IBTC Bank to showcase three (3) of its major products: Mobile Money, CHESS (Children Education Savings Scheme) and School Fees Loan. The event turned out to be not just a fun-filled, but also an e avenue to educate parents and children about ensuring financial security for the future.

Brand Visibility

As the lead sponsor Stanbic IBTC enjoyed massive brand visibility at the event with the stage backdrop banner and stage skirting.

Though there was limited visibility from the entrance of the Park to the Game Areas. Agency was able to achieve innovative branding by deploying balloons and temporary wall stickers in key centres of activity at the Park.

Overall, Stanbic IBTC Bank did well with branding the booths for the different products showcased at the carnival. The team was able to drive traffic to the Account Opening Sections, Photo Booth and the Face Painting Point. About 1,000 children had their faces painted with the Stanbic IBTC logo etching and other colorful artworks on display.

Product Activation

The three products which featured at the carnival were Mobile Money, CHESS (Children Education Savings Scheme) and School Fees Loan.

Data gathered from the Mobile Money promoters showed that a good number of adults (about 2000) signed up for Mobile Money. Some of them registered instantly, while others who could not complete the activation due network interferences during the 2-day carnival looked forward to their Mobile Money accounts being activated at a later date.
